The Vocal Theory is a music learning community created for adults and serious learners who want to understand their voice deeply — not chase quick results.
Here, music learning focuses on tone, sound quality, vocal awareness, and consistency, combining the depth of Indian classical training with the scientific understanding of Western vocal techniques.
Classes are led by Raktim, a seasoned vocal mentor with over 20 years of learning and teaching experience.
Raktim’s journey with music began at a very young age.
His grandfather was a student of Ustad Amir Khan, giving him early exposure to the Indore Gharana. He also comes from a strong musical lineage — his maternal grandmother is a distant cousin of Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, closely connecting him to the Shruti Nandan tradition.
He later trained for nearly 15 years under his Guru Sri Jayanta Sarkar in Kolkata, learning Indian classical music in depth — including discipline, roots, culture, and philosophy.
Alongside Indian classical training, Raktim developed strong Western musical foundations. He has studied how Western classical, rock, neo-classical, and modern techniques integrate into Indian and Bollywood music.
To understand the voice scientifically, he also trained with an American vocal institute, focusing on posture, breath, alignment, and muscle coordination.
Today, his teaching focuses on tone development and voice culture, helping students build awareness and gradually develop confidence in their own voice.
With over 20 years of learning and teaching exposure in music, along with experience as a corporate business trainer, Raktim’s teaching style is structured, patient, and clear. He is also recognized as a top-ranked Super Tutor on Urban Pro, a global learning platform.
